How to Convert SCSI to USB?

[ad_1]

SCSI stands for Small Computers Systems Interface and is considered in many ways the father of modern day USB (Universal Serial Bus) technology. About a decade ago, SCSI ports were the preferred choice for connecting any peripheral device like printer, scanner or camera to a computer but with the help of modern age devices you need a modern day connector. So USB has come out a winner in this battle.

The unlimited benefits of a USB port have rendered the SCSI port obsolete. However, if you are one of those who happen to have a SCSII device you do not necessarily need to throw it away as it is very easy to convert devices running on SCSI to USB. All you need for this conversion is an adaptor cable.

USB ports with their advantages have taken over the market in such a way that today almost all external hardware devices come equipped with Universal Serial Bus capabilities. The use of USB has enabled the utilization of a standardized port for all devices be it printers, scanners, hard drives, camera etc. The USB port has significantly enhanced the plug and play capabilities of devices as there is no need to restart the computer after you plug in and plug out the device. This was one of the main attraction point of USB ports when it was launched into the market.

Another special characteristic and feature of USB port which has made it the most preferred connector is that it even provides power to low energy consuming devices, such as cameras and cell phones. This feature revolutionized the computer world as there was no need to connect the device to an external power supply. This feature has been fully exploited by various companies and now IPods, phones and various other devices can be charged through a USB cable. Another benefit of using USB connector over SCSI port is that you do not need to install drivers for many devices when they are connected through USB thus making them a lot easier to work with.

However, for people with old computers having traditional SCSI port throwing away your old PC is not the right answer. If you want to explore all the benefits of using a USB port you can do so by connecting SCSI to USB converter. All you need to do is buy a connector cable and insert one end into the SCSI port of your computer. Now your computer is ready to play any USB equipped device. Just connect the USB device into the other end of the cable and there you go. You are ready to use your favourite USB device just with the help of a SCSI to USB cable/connector.
