Different Properties Of Silver Plated Copper Wire

[ad_1]

Both silver and copper are the metal of civilization, which are essential for living. From serving the most crucial purposes since the ancient time, the metals are now used widely in the electrical industry and for cleaning the water. Overall, both have made sustainable development for past many decades. When they both come in a single form, nothing could be invented better than the silver plated copper wires. The product has different essential properties, which give them many reasons to use in all the industrial applications.

The wires are cost effective fabrication that has more benefits than the traditional ones. They have excellent heat transfer coefficient and are well suited for almost every electrical application. They are great at reducing overall system cost and use less energy in comparison to other products.

Essential Properties Of Silver Plated Copper Wires:-

Chemical Properties – Mostly all common metals and alloys react with the water and even moist environment, which cause rusting of the wires. However, silver is a noble metal, which doesn’t get affected, or react with water alike copper. In all hot and cold moist environments, these metals resist corrosion greatly which most metals do not. Both silver and copper are placed in same group of periodic table that mean both have excellent chemical resisting properties and are relatively inert against the harmful chemicals. Both are inexpensive in nature and produce most advanced valued products when combined together.

Mechanical Properties – The primary properties of metals are hardness, strength, and ductility, which determine its condition. The silver plating on the copper wires does all the things in the right order. From enhancing hardness to storing the tensile strength, the noble metal silver can supply all the conditions. They are used in different applications from annealing (soft) to fully hard ones with the cold working. Besides this, the silver also enhances the ductility and malleability of the material, which enable them to bend in any shape as per the requirement.

Physical Properties – The physical properties of the wires can be classified into two categories i.e. Thermal Conductivity and Electrical Conductivity.

  • Thermal Conductivity: Copper has greater thermal conductivity features and silver is used to even improve it well. Copper and silver are good heat conductors than both steel and aluminum, which cause the materials to transfer the heat rapidly. On the other hand, they also have feature to avoid the overheating for the integrated applications and to prevent any spark and fire.
  • Electric Conductivity: It is one of the most common properties, which has transformed the entire world of electrical industry. Due to this property, the metals are used together to innovate high solutions for wires, cables, strip, and bus bars. Nothing could be possible without the electrical conductivity and in other words, everything is incomplete without the noble metals like copper and silver.
