Home Remedy For Head Lice

[ad_1]

Any parent of school age children have had at least one bout with head lice. If you haven’t, you will. Head lice shampoo that you buy at the local pharmacy isn’t cheap, and it isn’t always 100% effective. Here are a few home remedies to try out that are cheap, in some cases free, and work just as well if not better than the stuff you buy at your pharmacy. These are traditional home remedies that have been used for years, even before the medicated shampoo came out.

1. Get an onion, it doesn’t matter what kind, and juice it. Massage the juice of the onion into the scalp and leave on the scalp for three or four hours. When the time is up, wash the hair thoroughly until there are no more lice to be seen. This will not kill the eggs that are on the hair at this time, so you must do this for three or four days to kill the remaining lice.

2. Mix freshly extracted coconut oil with camphor powder. Massage the mixture into the scalp before bed. Wash the hair and scalp thoroughly in the morning. Repeat for four days to kill all the lice.

3. You can get rid of lice completely without using any product at all by using a lice comb to get rid of the nits (eggs) and tweezers to remove the live bugs. This is very time consuming but works. You may have to do this for several days, as well.

4. You can use real mayonnaise, olive oil, or Vaseline. Massage into the scalp before bed and cover with a shower cap. Wash your hair thoroughly in the morning, using a fine tooth comb to remove the nits.

5. Take a raw custard apple and grind it into a powder, including the seeds. Massage the powder into the scalp before bed. Tie the hair back with a cloth or use a shower cap. Wash the hair in the morning.

6. Wash the hair in Sea Breeze facial cleanser each night before bed. This will not only kill the lice, it will prevent lice from ever coming back.

7. This home remedy should only be used on adults and should be avoided altogether if there are even children in the house. Mix a small bit of kerosene with an entire bottle of shampoo and wash the hair. After washing the hair with the kerosene shampoo, wash the hair with regular shampoo. This immediately kills the lice bugs, but doesn’t kill the nits. Therefore, it must be repeated for three or four days to completely eradicate the lice from the hair.

8. To remove the lice from bedding, clothing, stuffed animals, and other soft materials, stuff them into a garbage bag and spray with Lysol. Tie the garbage bag up airtight, and leave in there for at least 24 hours.

Lice are hard to get rid of, and a real pain when you or your child get them. These remedies should surely work to cure your ills.
