There will always come a time when the extremities of your home need maintenance, repair, and replacement. This is especially the case with bargeboards and fascias, since they are located high up and may go unnoticed for a long period of time, and yet are constantly bombarded by the elements. Working at Heights
If you are planning to undertake the work yourself then safety will be the highest priority. Make sure that you take the measurements of the bargeboard, so that your replacement timbre fits well. If you do not make the right size timbre then there will be a lot of useless ascending and descending to re-cut or replace the timbre
Dismantling and reconstructing associated trims connected to your bargeboard
It is important to note that most of the time when you are replacing a barge there will be other features such as scrolls and trims, and other timber features, which will also need to be replaced. Unfortunately, these features are aesthetic and as such can be quite difficult and costly to replace effectively. However, you are advised against taking a short cut by ignoring them or removing them without their replacement, as this might make your home stand out poorly in comparison to your neighbour’s homes, and may even decrease your property value as a result.
Other Issues
There are many other issues, such as rust and rot, the dangers of power cables, damaged eave linings and so on. In general it would be far easier to hire a specialist to replace the barge for you, especially if you are not a proficient carpenter or DIY’er, and the results you get from a specialist will be far better.
