Disney Princess Spotlight – Snow White
Snow White is one of the dearest Disney Princess characters and was the first Disney Princess when she first appeared in Walt Disney’s animated fairytale, ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ that premiered on December 21, 1937 was later released to theatres on February 4, 1938. The film was the first animated feature film in history.
Like many of Disney’s successful animated feature films, the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ was originally based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm titled ‘Snow White’. The Brothers Grimm, Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm were German academics and they too were responsible for many popular fairy tales that include ‘Cinderella’, ‘Rumpelstiltskin’, ‘Rapunzel’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Golden Goose’ and ‘The Frog Prince’.
Snow White is a beautiful princess and she has black hair and wears a red bow in her hair. She wears a dress that has yellow skirt and blue bodice with red features on her shoulders. The story of the film is centrally based of Snow White’s wicked stepmother, the Queen’s jealousy and when asking the Magic Mirror ‘who is the fairest one of all?’ and it replies ‘Snow White’, the Queen orders her to be killed. On fleeing from the Queen’s evil attempt to kill her, Snow White befriends seven dwarfs each named Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey and Bashful. Her voice throughout the film is performed by Adriana Caselotti.
Snow White remains one of the most loved and sweetest Disney Princesses and is a character that will always have a valued place in the history of animation and storytelling.
