Audi EVs Will Keep the Grille Despite Having Less to Chill

[ad_1]

The designers of Audi don’t have any plans to take away these stylized grilles despite the fact that the company is launching more electric vehicles. You may be wondering why it is so. In this article, we are going to find answers to this question. Read on to find out more.

Audi will keep on curating the instantly recognizable one-frame grille design for its electric vehicles. On the other hand, some manufacturers have announced their vehicles don’t need grilles anymore.

Although many manufactures like General Motors have presented the idea that EVs don’t need grilles anymore, Tesla made this conventional mindset more popular by introducing entry-level EVs, such as model 3 and model Y.

The traditional cars were designed in a way that they needed grilles to cool down the radiator. We know that proper air circulation is required to maintain the temperature of the water inside the radiator. If the radiator heats up, the engine heats up, which can cause a loss of thousands of dollars?

Since EVs don’t come with radiators, there is no need to open a hole in front of the vehicle and install those annoying grilles. Therefore, there is no need for Grills in electric vehicles today.

Over the years, the designs of the grilles continued to change but they were still there on almost every vehicle. The early EVs by Tesla featured a blackout panel that looked like a grille. Eventually, the manufacture abandoned this idea.

Today, it looks like every electric car or new EV model appears with a body-color panel instead of a regular grille. Grilles have their uses whether they send cool air to the car radiator or not. Although electric vehicles can’t benefit from conventional radiators as they have no engine inside them. But they do have some type of radiators to maintain the temperatures of the motor and batteries. Plus, there are electronic control units that can benefit from the fresh, cool air.

Therefore, it may not be appropriate to say that grilles are not required for electric cars. However, the location of these openings can be changed. For instance, they can be placed in a lower location of the bumper.

For the designers of Audi, the grilles have their uses other than sending cool air to the batteries for mechanical components. In fact, it is part of the styling identity of the brand.

Recently, the company organized a virtual roundtable event. During this event, the representatives of the companies made it clear that they will be adding single frame grilles to their electric vehicles.

We do not have any confirmation about the shape of the grilles. In other words, we don’t know if it will be a vent-like aperture or a blanked-out panel.

In short, this was an introduction to the Audi EVs that will feature Grille despite the fact that EVs don’t seem to benefit from conventional grilles. Manufacturers have found a way to add grilles to these vehicles and still make them look great.
